The "Pearl of the Sea Zone鈥� of the 2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival is themed "Riding the Light and Dreaming with the Brave on the Sea" to showcase the magnificent epic of the Great Seafaring Era. The centerpiece of this area is the "Asia Discovery", an East India merchant ship adapted from the Dutch East India Company's "Santa Catarina" in 1603, which symbolizes Taiwan's rise as a "Pearl of the Sea" in East Asia and carries the Koi pattern, a symbol of peace, hope, friendship, and tranquility.
With the symbolism of "Taiwan's Glory, Hope Goes Forth", the work presents the ecological treasures of Taiwannes species. The immersive light and shadow experience allows the audience to experience the glory of sailing together with the brave men and women of the sea. At the same time, the display of small boats loaded with trade treasures based on the theme of products highlights the unique value of Taiwan as a precious island. The historical significance of the artwork, as well as lively animal representations such as a white-faced flying squirrel navigator, a Moltrechtis green tree frog Musician, and Captain Oh! Bear, shows vibrancy and interactivity, making the "Pearl of the Sea Zone a dazzling celebration of history, culture, and nature.
