A minimalist French-style cozy home for a 90s civil servant: A healing little world for one person and two cats

As a 90s civil servant, my daily work requires meticulous attention to detail. Therefore, when designing my personal apartment, I wanted it to be a "charging station" where I could shed my fatigue and relax. Eventually, I chose a minimalist French style as the base to create a warm space suitable for a life with "one person and two cats".

In terms of space design, I abandoned the traditional French style's elaborate carvings and used light apricot walls and clean-lined plaster moldings to outline a gentle framework. I paired this with custom-made cream-colored cabinets and natural wood floors to create a soft and unoppressive overall tone. The living room features a no-main-light design and a wicker single chair, which not only retains the French sense of leisure but also allows the cats to jump up and down freely. The dining room has a custom-made bench with storage, which serves both as a dining area and a place to store cat treats. The balcony's laundry area was transformed into a cat bed, and it's common to see the cats curled up in the sun.

The functional planning is centered around "coexistence of humans and cats": the entire house uses matte micro-cement tiles that are scratch-resistant and wear-resistant, as well as tech fabric sofas to minimize damage from the cats. The wardrobe has a pet passage reserved, allowing them to freely explore. The balcony is divided into a laundry area and a corner for the cat litter box, with a gauze curtain to keep it tidy. There's no excessive decoration; instead, the cats' toys and my collection of niche scented candles serve as the space's embellishments, making this small apartment not only a place to live but also a private haven that hides the fine details of life.
