The design centers on a narrative-driven spatial experience, using the cultural symbolism of alcoholic drink as a vehicle to transcend temporal and geographic boundaries. Guided by the theme 鈥淒issolving Temporal Divides, Performing Cultural Synthesis,鈥 the design interweaves nautical heritage with intercultural artistic expression, drawing from both Eastern and Western traditions. Architecturally, fluid curvilinear forms create dynamic circulation and visual intrigue, encouraging exploration. Functional elements take on symbolic sculptural roles鈥攂anquettes are reimagined as ceremonial dragon boats, partition screens become stylized wings鈥攅levating utility through mythological abstraction. The journey begins in a shadowy transitional lounge marked by weathered beast-head door knockers, opening into an immersive realm of fantastical symbolism. Key spatial features include a mast-and-sail ceremonial archway and dragon boat seating that allude to ancient maritime voyages. The bar counter mimics draconian scales through timber mosaics, while deconstructed apothecary cabinets and mythical carvings serve as symbolic backdrops. The design weaves together Dunhuang murals with Escher-like tessellations, merging Eastern mysticism with Western surrealism. Above the circular dance floor, feathered luminaires and a DJ booth adorned with alchemical motifs create a theatrical, ritualistic atmosphere. Materiality plays a central role in shaping the spatial narrative. Salvaged and weathered materials鈥攖imber, oxidized metals, and fragmented wood sculptures鈥攁re reinterpreted through artisanal craftsmanship. Rather than using premium new materials, the team sourced from demolition sites and salvage yards, transforming reclaimed elements into bespoke design features. This approach preserved the historical patina while meeting budget constraints, blending past and present into a unified visual lexicon. The project embraces a strong ecological ethic. Under a zero-waste philosophy, reclaimed wood and salvaged artifacts were treated as temporal relics鈥攐ld crates became table plinths, aged planks were reconstructed into dragon boat seating. This conscious reconfiguration extended the lifecycle of materials, transforming sustainability into a poetic narrative device rather than a mere technical feature. Through symbolic storytelling, sculptural expression, and sustainable ingenuity, the project redefines hospitality design as a cultural archive. Each material, form, and motif contributes to an immersive experience that celebrates myth, memory, and cross-cultural dialogue鈥攖urning the space into a living theatre of human civilization.
